How Waters Advisory collects, uses and protects personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Waters Advisory (Pty) Ltd (Reg. No. 2019/167555/07), Makhanda, Eastern Cape, is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website and in the course of our services.
What we collect
Through the contact form: your name, business name, phone or WhatsApp number, email address and the topic you choose. When you become a client, we also collect the information needed to deliver our services, such as identity and tax numbers, financial records and company details.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and book your call.
- To deliver accounting, tax, payroll, advisory and related services you engage us for.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations, including SARS, CIPC, SAICA and anti-money-laundering requirements.
We do not sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.
Who we share it with
Only where needed to deliver our services or meet the law: for example SARS, CIPC, and the software providers we use (such as Xero, SimplePay, Hubdoc and Microsoft 365). Where an audit or independent review is required, information is shared with our referral partner auditors with your consent. Some providers store data outside South Africa, under safeguards that POPIA requires.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires, generally at least five years after the relevant tax period or engagement ends.
Keeping it safe
We use secured, access-controlled systems with two-step sign-in, and limit access to the people who need it.
Your rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
